First of all I would like to say that I'm not a Miley fan, I only know like 5 songs she has sung (including the Jolene cover). I used to hate her back then.
Okay... so everybody has been talking about the performance Miley Cyrus gave at the VMA 2013 some days ago – and I do understand why. We all do.
But a lot of people are saying that she is a slut and to them I ask;
– How does a performance show who she is in private? It's like believing that reality tv stars are like that at home.
– Even if she was a slut, how does that effect your life? Does she decide what you can and can not do?
– If you see someone do something, do you do it? If you see a violent movie do you go out and kill someone? People should not always use celebrities as their role models for life decisions.

– What about Madonna? Britney? Xtina? Lady Gaga? Rihanna? Katy Perry? Jennifer Lopez? And everyone else who have performed in almost no clothing and transformed from child star to teen/adult pop?
– Wasn't it entertaining? People can barely remember that Lady Gaga and N*Sync showed up.
– Okay, it wasn't appropriate for small kids but 1) should they watch VMA in the first place with all those other sexual artists + videos and 2) I don't think those kids are Miley's target anymore.
– Do you realize that you are bringing her views and searches by watching/writing about her?
– It's her show. She was probably asked/paid to do it and she's relevant. Why can't she decide how to perform? Does Marilyn Manson change his performances because some people dislike them? Does Rihanna, who's show is very much like this?

My personal opinions
On the performance: It was weird, and trashy. It too much, and over the top. But I kinda liked it, because she looked like she had fun and didn't give a fuck. It's pure shock value in my opinion and she is getting a fuck load of attention from this "stunt".
On "We Can't Stop" song: At first it sounded very generic, but after a while it grew on me and it's stuck in my head. Especially the "might get some na OH!" and "la da di da di we like to party" parts. It's catchy. But the lyrics are stupid at times. And empowering at other times. + Her voice is better for "Jolene" songs.
On the WCS video: It's beautiful. I really like it, even tho I know it's 100% random, product placement and sex appeal. It looks good. There's a lot going on there.
On her look: She looks awesome. She has a nice body. I love her style at the moment, she has nice skin and natural makeup. She has a very youthful and androgynous look to her. It looks unique and she is rocking the hurr.
+ She looks a bit like the Olsen twins. She doesn't really have an ass. And she should learn how to keep the tongue inside her mouth sometimes.
